1. ODENTITY (2002-2005) using the 43 note Just Intonation tuning system of Harry Partch and written for Newband and Partch's instrument collection. Performed by the Harry Parts' Fictive Ensemble.
2. UNCLE VENUS (2005) featuring the FLUX Quartet, this is one scary sonic world of string quartet with gamelan instruments. Best to hear it loud between large speakers
3. MUSIC FOR THEREMIN AND GAMELAN (1998-99) performed by Gamelan Son of Lion, with Rob Schwimmer and David Simons on Theremin, Tom Chiu violin and Stephanie Griffin on viola. Almost a neo-classical work that combines microtonality, improvisation, precise rhythmic formulas, and interactive motion controlled sample triggering.
4. CHAIN OF INCIDENTS (1993) which uses only the sounds of aluminum cans and glass bottles, (with some extra help) to create a very different kind of sound environment.

DVD: The Creative Process
a video documentary by LISA KARRER


In July 2005 David Simons, Lisa Karrer and Ken Butler were artists-in-residence at the Avampato Discovery Museum in Charleston, West Virginia. This film is a document of the creative process, the young students' imaginative instrument building with recycled materials, and blossoming of their musical skills. The workshop culminated with a performance at the CLAY CENTER with the students and teachers of the community.
